Geopolítica dos ilícitos em áreas transfronteiriças: o papel da Receita Federal no combate ao contrabando de cigarros na fronteira Brasil-Paraguai

Abstract

Illicit acts have been present in society since the most remote times. The borders, due to their porosity, are the places where the most diverse crimes are most easily committed, such as smuggling, embezzlement and drug trafficking. The cigarette trade is highly profitable and one of the main sources of tax income and also one of the most smuggled goods in Brazil, for its high added value and the lowest penalty compared to trafficking. The Federal Revenue Service acts strongly in combating the smuggling of this merchandise, together with other agencies and public security agencies. There is a need for greater integration of state agents so that effectively there is a reduction in this illicit and harmful practice to society, be it with reduced collection, as well as the damage caused to public health.
