Sínodo da Amazônia: uma ameaça à Soberania Nacional

Abstract

The institucional action of Catholic Church in the country, through Special Amazon Synod, is highlighted with this current moment of discussion about new directions of Evangelization for the Region. Through socioeconomic, environment and religions problems, the Catholic Church discusses internally, with its capillary structure of the Ecclesial Regionals in so called Legal Amazon and externally, articulating the diverse actors in the area called Pan Amazon, trying to carry out actions that aim to respond to questions asked in the preparation process. And in the Synodal process that there is a suspicion that this supranational event, as well as its developments, consists of a possible national threat to sovereignty. What is verified is what themes related to the Amazon tend to be politicised and even to be securitized and not frequently, enrol in the field of National Defense concerns.
