As relações dos órgãos de segurança e defesa com a mídia

Abstract

This monograph deals with the relations of the public agencies of Security and Defense with the press with special focus on the elements of formation of the institutional image and on the consequences of this image.The objective of this study is to determine the degree of influence of the public security and defense agencies' relationship with the media in strengthening or weakening institutions, identifying the defining parameters of this relationship, addressing the factors that induce the formation of public opinion and image under legal and socially valid values after the promulgation of the Constitution of the Republic of 1988 until the current context.The methodology adopted included bibliographical and documentary research, aiming to find theoretical references, besides the experience of the author as social communicator of the Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro and coordinator of social communication of the same institution during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.The security and defense agencies have a complex relationship with the media, since they are always under great exposure and consequently under constant evaluation of their activities. In this sense, the main focus of the work falls on the characteristics of the attributions of these organs in Brazil, their instruments of action and their respective relations with the press, evaluating the consequences of this interface in the social and political-administrative sphere of the country.The conclusion indicates positive actions to be developed and whose implementation can contribute to the increase of the institutional image of the security and defense organs, pointing out also the need to understand the importance of the media sector in the respective institutions.
